Balenciaga Chapter 1

We begin our dive into fashion history with one of it’s most respected members, Cristobal Balenciaga. We don’t have a ton of information on Balenciaga - he only gave one official interview his whole career and it happened a few months before he died. But we can take a look at what information we do have on his early life, listen to the perspectives of the people he surrounded himself with, examine his deep seeded inspirations and consider his legacy.

Our first chapter covers the legend of how Balenciaga went from the son of Spanish Basque tradespeople to a couterier responsible for dressing the Queen of Spain, follows Balenciaga’s journey to Paris and reflects on his deep seeded inspirations.
